NYFW DAY 1 + FNO

I am a very happy girl. My job at REVOLVEclothing.com presented this amazing opportunity to go to New York Fashion Week to cover all of the major fashion shows and events on behalf of the company. I'm Instagramming, tweeting, and blogging all the happenings during the next seven days, and I can not imagine a better job than this!

Today's schedule included: Nicholas K. + backstage interview, BCBG, Richard Chai LOVE, and Kimberly Ovitz. Along the way, I sat and met with amazing fellow fashion bloggers, and most importantly, got to catch up with old friends at 3.1 Phillip Lim during Fashion's Night Out.

For more photos and live fashion week feeds, follow me on Instagram and Twitter @revolveclothing & @ForwardbyElyseWalker

Stay tuned for much, much more to come!!! And check out more coverage at the

FNO: GIRLS ON BIKES @ 3.1 PHILLIP LIM

the third annual FASHION'S NIGHT OUT was last night, and the glitteratti flocked to 3.1 in SoHo to join in on our FNO festivities. "Girls on Bikes" Stop was the theme of the soiree - inspired by the Fall '11 of course - where bright neon lights were glowing, the free drinks were flowing, and shoppers were entered into a special drawing to win either a brand new Linus bicycle OR a 3.1 Pashli Satchel! talk about an incentive to buy!

joining Phillip Lim himself were his favorite "it" girls, including: Hanneli Mustaparta, the beautiful Garance Doré, and Marina Munoz, who all guest bartended the party for a quick sec.

music was good , people were dressed to the nines, and i got to experience my first FNO in new york...a pretty cool way to end my stint here in the city if ya ask me.

after the party, the gang and i walked over to the Mondrian hotel to watch Neon Indian play a private show. all in all, a great fashion's (and music's) night out.

The Sartorialist: Scott Schuman falls in love a little bit every day

the pioneer of fashion blogging steps from behind his camera and lets the world take a look at his world, through his lens. this seven-minute doc follows the Sartorialist on a normal day of "work" -- strolling around Manhatten, snapping away at people who catches his eye (even including a duct-taped boot clad construction worker).

"when i look at something, I don't think, 'Is that fashionable enough? Is that of the moment enough?'...

I'M JUST REACTING."

take a few moments to watch this. it's so inspiring.

THE MAN REPELLER

WHAT IS A MAN REPELLER?

MAN·RE·PELL·ER1  [MAHN-REE-PELLER]

–noun
outfitting oneself in a sartorially offensive way that will result in repelling members of the opposite sex. This includes but is not limited to harem pants, boyfriend jeans, overalls (see: human repelling), shoulder pads, full length jumpsuits, jewelry that resembles violent weaponry and clogs.
–verb (used without object),-pell·ing, -pell·ed.
to commit the act of repelling men:
Girl 1: What are you wearing tonight?
Girl 2: My sweet lime green drop crotch utility pants
Girl 1: Oh, so we're man repelling tonight?

-----------------------------------------------------------
this has got to be one of my favorite blogs. MR is so sarcastic, so ingenious, so RIGHT! --
why is it that pretty much everything "edgy" or "chic" that us girls love is completely the opposite of what males find attractive? i mean seriously to be honest i can care less about what guys think of my sometimes borderline tomboy outfits, or rather such outfits that show about zero amount of skin. i know we girls in truth only dress up for each other -- who else do you expect to comment on your new wedges, spiked rings, or fur vest? not him.

HOMEGIRL IS SOOO FUNNY! she really knows how to write -- and man repel.
HERE ARE SOME OF HER AMAZINGLY HYSTERICAL (AND SO TRUE) POSTS:

"YOUR LIPSTICK IS POPPIN, HIS PANTS ARE NOT."
"PARIS FASHION WEEK: THE OLYMPICS OF MAN REPELLING.
INSANE ASYLUM CHIC."
"NO SEX AND THE CITY --
SHOES THAT LOOK LIKE FEMALE GENITALS."
"HOW TO TURN YOUR GETTER (LEFT) INTO A REPELLER (RIGHT)"
"DIYing YOUR VERY OWN SARTORIAL COCK BLOCKS --
THE SCARF TURBAN"

see what i mean?
so funny!!!

SEASON FINALE

it's the end of an era.

in the summer of 2009 i reconnected with my old best friend, Eric, who introduced me to my favorite neighbor, Steven, who both introduced me back to old gal pals from high school. and since then, my life completely changed. so much has happened in one year. it's hard to grasp how time flies, and how much you learn in the process.

from june 09 to now, i've traveled to london, paris, &  barcelona (and at the end of september, i'll be visiting Asia for the first time). i had three different jobs from Riviera to Ferragamo, and now LOCALE.

Steven is moving to NYC to pursue his genius - ART.
Eric is also moving to NYC to scream his fashion sense to the world at FIT.
Linh (1/2 of sara+linh) is going back to school to become a PA
Sara (other 1/2 of sara+linh) is starting her first semester @ pharmschool in CO
Kathy (my oldest friend since 2nd grade!) is becoming a fabulous optometrist
Nguyen transferred to Loyola law

we sound like the most eclectic group of friends, but you know what? that's what's so amazing.

yes, a lot can happen in a year. actually, a lot can happen in a day. but the one thing that stays the same is our DRIVE to succeed AND to be happy.

check, and check.

can't wait to see what 2011 has got in store for all of us.
